The New Glarus girls varsity basketball team competed in the Dodgeville Tournament on Monday, December 27th, and Wednesday, December 29th.
On Monday, the team played Jefferson. New Glarus was leading at the half, 25-19, and went on to a 45-33 win.
Lindsey Schadewalt led New Glarus with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal, while Alex Atwell scored 9 points and had 1 assist, 1 steal and 7 blocks, and Grace Nommensen scored 6 points and had 4 assists, 7 rebounds and 1 steal.
On Wednesday, New Glarus played Dodgeville. The Lady Knights had a commanding 34-15 halftime lead, and went on to win the game 62-43.
Lindsey Schadewalt scored 23 points and had 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal to lead New Glarus, while Alex Atwell scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and 4 blocks, and Grace Nommensen scored 10 points and had 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
On January 4th, New Glarus hosted Platteville. The Lady Knights were ahead by 8 at the halftime break and went on the win the game by a score of 48 to Platteville’s 37.
Leading New Glarus in scoring was Lindsey Schadewalt, who also had 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block, while Alex Atwell scored 11 points and had 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block and Grace Nommensen scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
On January 6th, the Lady Knights hosted Waterloo. With a 29-point lead at the half, New Glarus cruised to a 77-28 win over the Lady Pirates.
Scoring 27 points to lead New Glarus was Lindsey Schadewalt, who also had 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Alex Atwell put 10 points on the board along with pulling down 8 rebounds, and having 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks, while Elle Lancaster scored 8 points and had 4 assists, 1 steal and 5 rebounds, and Grace Nommensen scored 8 points and had 4 rebounds and 1 assist.
New Glarus played at Wisconsin Heights on January 11th. They will host Marshall on January 14th and Brodhead on January 17th. They are currently at 1-1 in conference play, tied for third with Waterloo in the Capitol South, and 9-3 overall.
