Knights Win Over Ponies, Lose to Mineral Point

The New Glarus Knights hosted Parkview on January 5th. They led at halftime, 46-31, and won the game. The final score was New Glarus 82, Parkview 51.
Carter Siegenthaler led the Knights in scoring with 15 points while Breckin Faber and Nathan Streiff scored 13 points each and AC Strok scored 12 points.
On January 7th, the Knights hosted the Ponies of Monticello. New Glarus led by 4 at the halftime break, and held on to the lead throughout the second half to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 68, Monticello 57.
The Knights were up 8 points with a little more than 8 minutes to go in the first when the Ponies went on a 8-0 run to tie the game up at 22 with 3 minutes left, but the Knights took the lead in time for halftime. The Knights began the second half with a 15-4 run, eventually expanding their lead to 16 points. Monticello fought back to trail by only 7 with under a minute left in the game, but Carter Siegenthaler of New Glarus hit 6 free throws in a row in the last 37 seconds to assist New Glarus in the victory.
Mason Martinson scored 17 points to lead New Glarus in scoring and had 7 rebounds, while Darris Schuett scored 15 points and Nathan Streiff scored 14 points with 6 rebounds. Dain Walter pulled down 7 rebounds.
Leading Monticello in scoring was Peter Gustafson with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Rudy Wicker scored 13 points with 6 rebounds and Owen Ace scored 8 points with 5 rebounds.
On January 9th, New Glarus hosted Mineral Point. At the half, New Glarus was trailing by 4 and rallied in the second half but were unable to secure the win. The final score was Mineral Point 79, New Glarus 73.
With 26 points, Mason Martinson led the Knights in scoring while Dain Walter scored 13 points and Nathan Streiff, Darris Schuett and AC Strok each scored 9 points.
The Knights hosted Dodgeville on January 11th. They will host Waterloo on January 14th and play at Poynette on January 16th.
