Lady Knights Drop Two Games

On January 6th, the New Glarus Lady Knights basketball team played at Mineral Point. Down at the half by 10, New Glarus stepped it up on offense in the second half but couldn’t hold on for a win. The final score was Mineral Point 68, New Glarus 60.
“Knights struggled to keep Mineral Point’s guards from getting into the paint,” commented Coach Kim Burton.
Jaylynn Benson led New Glarus with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists while Ellie Eichelkraut scored 12 points, Lily Himmelmann put 12 points on the board and had 4 rebounds and 4 steals and Brooke Watrud pulled down 8 rebounds.
On January 9th, New Glarus hosted Wisconsin Heights. Down at the half by 5, the Lady Knights again stepped it up offensively in the second half only to lose the game. The final score was Wisconsin Heights 56, New Glarus 53.
Coach Burton said, “The Knights struggled to get into an offensive rhythm and struggled again from the free throw line, going 11/21 as a team.”
Leading the Lady Knights with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists was Jaylynn Benson. Dylan Noll put 15 points on the board and had 7 rebounds and Shealynn Klosterman-Havens and Lily Himmelmann each contributed 6 points.
On January 14th, New Glarus played at Belleville. On January 17th they will host Marshall and will host Deerfield on January 20th.
