The New Glarus Lady Knights faced the Lady Warriors of Black Hawk at home on Tuesday, January 3rd. Up by 11 at the half, New Glarus held Black Hawk to just 11 points in the second half to claim victory. The final score was New Glarus 56, Black Hawk 26.
Leading New Glarus with 23 points was Lindsey Schadewalt who sunk 5 3-pointers, and who also had 1 rebound, 2 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. Alex Atwell scored 18 points with 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 4 blocks, and Grace Nommensen scored 8 points and had 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.
On January 5th, the team headed to Waterloo to take on the Lady Pirates. The Lady Knights took a 12-point lead into halftime and then outscored Waterloo 42-25 in the second half to take the win. The final score was New Glarus 65, Waterloo 36.
Lindsey Schadewalt, who put 4 3-point shots in, led the Knights with 27 points along with her 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Grace Nommensen scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal, while Emma Martinson put 6 points on the board with 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
New Glarus hosted Belleville on January 10th. They will play at Wisconsin Heights on January 13th, at Marshall on January 19th and play Belmont at home on January 21st. According to New Glarus High School Athletic Director Mitch Cernek, this is their best start to a season in over 20 years.
