Lady Knights Open Season with Win Over Darlington

The New Glarus Lady Knights opened their season with a non-conference game at Darlington on Friday, November 22nd. New Glarus won, 68 to 51.
NG jumped out to a 13-1 lead with juniors Dylan Noll and Jaylynn Benson attacking and finishing at the basket. Darlington was able to close the gap to five points late in the first half and then again midway through the second half, but the Knights never let them get closer than that.
“This was a great team win for us,” said Coach Kim Burton. “The girls worked hard on the defensive end and attacked in transition. The Lady Knights shot 47% from the field and 93% from the free throw line (13/14).”
Dylan Noll led all scorers with 22 points, three rebounds and two steals. Jaylynn Benson had 19 points, six steals, five deflections and four assists. Shea Klosterman-Havens scored 8 points and had three steals. Brooke Watrud put 6 points on the board and had three rebounds and two steals. Ellie Eichelkraut scored 5 points, while Emma Marty scored 4 points and Lily Himmelmann scored 4 points and had 11 rebounds and 4 steals.
New Glarus played at Shullsburg/Benton on November 25th, and will host Poynette on December 3rd and Lodi on December 6th.
