Learn Scherenschnitte at the Swiss Center of North America

Linda Schiesser of New Glarus, WI, will introduce the art of Scherenschnitte, or scissor cutting, at a workshop at the Swiss Center of North America on Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The Swiss Center of North America is located at 507 Durst Road, New Glarus.

You will need to bring:
• Scissor-small and sharp like embroidery or manicure
• Pencils-sharpened, several would help
• Erasers
• Ruler or straight edge - needs to be only 6”
• Magazine pictures, photos, sketched ideas
You will receive a packet on the day of the class, which includes:
• “Learning the Swiss Folk Art of Scherenschnitte” handout
• Printed flat design - easy to cut
• Carbon paper - 5 x 8 piece (1/2 sheet)
• Parchment or colored paper - 5 x 7 piece for transferring process
• “From the Heart: Patterns for Single Fold” (1/2 sheet for designing)
• Mat board - white 4 x 6
