Little John's Temporary Closure to Affect Sugar River Senior Center Meals

Little John’s community kitchen abruptly announced its temporary closure Monday, citing high food and labor costs, and stating that they will scale back from 16,000-17,000 meals per week to 3,000 along with laying off a large portion of their employees.
“We were notified on Monday, January 23, that Little John’s ended their contract with Dane County without notice for our meal program. Dane County and Sugar River Senior Center are working together to find a solution and a new caterer as quickly as possible,” said SRSC Assistant Director Maria Lamboley. “We are committed to ensuring food access for older adults and although the menu will not remain the same, meals will still be provided M-F. Please be patient with us during this transition and thank you for your understanding.”
Little John’s had taken over the catering contract on January 1, 2023.
