<strong>Lieut. Stuessy is Decorated</strong>
First Lieutenant Eugene F. Stuessy, formerly in chemical warfare service, was awarded the bronze star medal for meritorious service in connection with military operations on Leyte and the Philippine Islands, in a ceremony held at Percy Jones Hospital at Fort Custer, Michigan, last week. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Stuessy. His wife and son make their home at New Glarus.
<strong>News of Men in Service</strong>
Sgt. Nordean Anderson has notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Anderson, that he has arrived on the west coast.
Sgt. John H. Kaech, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kaech, is here from El Paso, Texas, where he has been stationed at William Beaumont General Hospital.
Herman Theiler, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Theiler, was dismissed from the Navy on the west coast on Saturday and expects to be home soon.
James Kaeser, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Kaeser, recently discharged from the Navy, is attending the University of Wisconsin.
Roger T. Hefty, Aerm 3/C of the U. S. Navy has left Norfolk, Virginia, where he was stationed for a time at Port Lyautey, Africa.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Slotten received word from their son, Eugene, that he was in the U. S. Naval Hospital, San Diego, California. Eugene is ill with rheumatic fever.
We still have sixty-five names of servicemen and women on our list and are sending these 65 the <i>Post</i> every week. How about a letter from some of you people we haven’t heard from for a long time?
Technician Fifth Grade, Wayne W. Showers, New Glarus, has been assigned as a driver in the Field Artillery Motor Pool Detachment, School Troops, Field Artillery School, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Hervey Hauser, Monroe, formerly of New Glarus, entered the University of Wisconsin at the beginning of the 2nd semester. He was recently discharged from the Army.
Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Kubly are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kubly. Sgt. Kubly received his honorable discharge from the Army at Camp McCoy on February 2, after two years and ten months of service. He was in Italy for 8 months. Since returning from Europe, he has been at Camp Carson, Colorado, and Camp Campbell, Kentucky. Delmar wants to thank all those who remembered him while he was in the service with cards, letters and gifts and for the Christmas gift from “The Folks at Home.”
