On Saturday, August 6, the New Glarus Fire Department hosted their annual family-friendly event, Firefest. The day began with lots of fun things for kids to do, including kids waterfights, a spray house and inflatable rides. In the afternoon there was an open waterfight tournament and music by the Greenfield Brothers, followed by a steak fry and the evening ended with music by Cherry Pie.
On Sunday, August 7th, the Männerchor New Glarus hosted the annual Volksfest Celebration in the Shooting Park. Volksfest celebrates Swiss Independence and the birth of the Swiss nation achieved in 1291.
