Missing Money Not Discussed at Monticello Village Board Meeting

The Monticello Village Board met on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Although Village President LaVerne Crooks had told the board at the last meeting that he wanted to know what had happened to the missing money in squad car fund, there was no mention at all of the issue at this meeting.
Bart Nies, of Delta 3 Engineering Inc., presented the final report on the N. Monroe Street Project. He told the board that the project came in earlier than projected and under budget. He asked the board to approve the final payment contingent upon the receipt of lien releases from the contractors. The board unanimously approved the final payment.
The board approved the request of Todd Jenson to trap muskrats in Lake Montesian as well as in the river.
The board also approved an updated job description for police chief and announced that the job description would first be posted internally for 10 days.
On a unanimous roll call vote, the board approved village employees inclusion in the Wisconsin Retirement System and the Wisconsin Public Employees Group Health Insurance Program.
During the Public Works report, the board approved raising the refuse sticker prices for residential from $2.00 to $2.50 per sticker with the base rate of $4.50 staying the same. The commercial base rate will be raised from $10.00 to $12.00.
In the report from the Monticello Fire District, Trustee Larry Strause said that the village’s portion to the Monticello Fire Department would remain the same as last year at $25,370. Strause also reported that the fire department had received a $5,000 50/50 DNR grant.
