Monroe-New Glarus Swimming Beats Stoughton

The Monroe-New Glarus girls swim team hosted Stoughton on March 16th. The JV team fell to Stoughton, 26-47, while the Varsity team emerged victorious, 107-63.
<strong>Varsity Results</strong>
The 200 SC Meter Medley Relay team of Riley Hoesly, Karley Michels, Keeley Mulligan and Francesca Schiro won the event with a time of 2:16.33. Placing third in the event was the team of Kaitlyn Elgin, Peyton Yaun, Samantha Schiro and Anna Newcomer, with a time of 2:19.32.
In the 200 SC Meter Freestyle event, Karley Michels placed second with a time of 2:41.42, while Taylor Rufer placed third with a time of 2:44.78 and Danika Doll finished fourth with a time of 2:45.22.
Riley Hoesly won the 200 SC Meter IM event with a time of 2:45.34, while Kaitlyn Elgin finished second with a time of 2:49.06 and Anna Newcomer placed third with a time of 2:56.41.
In the 50 SC Meter Freestyle event, Francesca Schiro placed second with a time of 29.36, while Kendra Wenger finished fourth with a time of 32.27 and Keeley Mulligan finished fifth with a time of 32.84.
Samantha Schiro won the 100 SC Meter Butterfly with a time of 1:17.00. Elsa Schaefer placed third with a time of 1:21.87 in the event.
Keeley Mulligan won the 100 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:09.28, while Kendra Wenger finished second with a time of 1:09.77, and Anna Newcomer finished third with a time of 1:11.95.
In the 400 SC Meter Freestyle event, Francesca Schiro finished second with a time of 5:01.73, while Kaitlyn Elgin finished third with a time of 5:18.57.
The team of Francesca Schiro, Keeley Mulligan, Riley Hoesly and Kendra Wenger won the 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:05.33. With a time of 2:20.78, the team of Taylor Rufer, Elsa Schaefer, Kristina Foley and Danika Doll finished in third place.
Winning the 100 SC Meter Backstroke was Riley Hoesly, with a time of 1:14.09. Samantha Schiro finished second with a time of 1:20.08 and Taylor Rufer finished fourth with a time of 1:21.88.
Karley Michels won the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:24.45, while Peyton Yaun placed second with a time of 1:26.04 and Elsa Schaefer finished third with a time of 1:28.30.
In the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay, the team of Kendra Wenger, Samantha Schiro, Anna Newcomer and Kaitlyn Elgin placed second with a time of 4:45.87, while the fourth place finishers in the event were the team of Karley Michels, Taylor Rufer, Elsa Schaefer and Peyton Yaun with a time of 5:13.00.
Sectionals are being held Thursday, March 30th at Beloit Memorial High School and the WIAA State Swimming meet is being held at Waukesha South High School on Tuesday, April 6th.
