On Friday, April 10, the Monticello baseball team squared off with a tough Benton/Shullsburg team in a double-header.
Benton/Shullsburg demolished the Ponies 24-0 in the first matchup; Monticello had one hit by Pusel who was one for two with a double.
On the mound was Spahr pitching one inning and one out. He gave up 12 runs, 10 earned runs, five hits, walked six, and had one strikeout. Next up was Shulka pitching one inning and one out; he gave up 10 runs, seven earned runs, three hits, and walked seven. Pitching the last two innings and one out was May. He gave up two runs, no earned runs, two hits walked two, and struck out two.
In the next game of the double-header, Monticello was dominated by Benton/Shullsburg again, 8-0.
Offensively, Monticello had one hit by Marty.
Pitching all six innings was Siegenthaler, who gave up eight runs, three earned runs, six hits, walked three, and struck out three.
On Tuesday, April 7, the Ponies were defeated by Argyle 14-5; Monticello had five runs and seven hits.
Hurling the ball for the Ponies was Spahr who went three innings and Siegenthaler who went three as well. Spahr gave up 13 runs, nine earned runs, 10 hits, walked six, and struck out zero. Siegenthaler gave up one run, one earned run, three hits, walked zero, and struck out three.
Offensively, Marty was one for three with a run, a double, and two RBIs; Spahr went one for four with a run, a double, and an RBI; Siegenthaler was one for four with a run and an RBI; and Andrews was one for two with an RBI.
