Home ›Monticello Turns Out to Show Support For Special Needs Families
A car parade was held on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Monticello.
The event was held to show support for those that have family members who have special needs which require car rides for therapeutic purposes to help ease the stress for the isolation. This guided tour provided these families a destination for their ride, as well as the opportunity for the community to step out and provide those families with support. There were signs on houses and businesses, and people standing all along the route cheering! Even the Easter Bunny took part in the parade.
The tour was led by Chief Conway of the Monticello Police Department. There were also cars and trucks from the Monticello Fire Department, New Glarus Fire Department, Green County Sheriff's Department and others. Kay Freitag, of Freitag Financial Services, donated poster boards so that everyone who wanted to make signs was able to.
