Multiple Fire Departments Fight House Fire on New Year's Day

At 2:02 p.m., on January 1, 2022, the Belleville Fire Department, along with Belleville EMS and the Green County Sheriff's Office, were dispatched to N7512 County Road X, Town of Brooklyn, for a residential structure fire.
Upon arrival, fire units found a two-story single family dwelling with heavy fire visible from three sides of the structure; fire was seen in both the first and second floor.
A MABAS box alarm was requested to bring units from the following departments: Albany FD, Brooklyn FD, Brodhead FD, Fitchburg FD, Fitch-Rona EMS, Monticello FD, New Glarus FD, Oregon FD and Verona FD. The Monroe FD and Evansville FD provided coverage of the Belleville Fire Station during the incident. The Green County Highway Department also provided much needed assistance with traffic control and road salt.
The fire displaced two adults and a cat. No injuries are reported to either civilians or fire fighters.
The structure is considered a total loss at this time, with financial losses estimated at $200,000.00. The displaced are being assisted by family and the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
