In a game postponed a day due to a snowstorm that dumped more than 5 inches on the area, the Monticello Lady Ponies hosted the New Glarus Lady Knights on February 18th. New Glarus was leading at the half, 37-11, and cruised to a 60-30 win over Monticello.
Leading New Glarus with 24 points was Jaylynn Benson, while Brooke Watrud, Ellie Eichelkraut and Lily Himmelmann each scored 6 points and Morgan Thompson, Dylan Noll and Shealyn Klosterman-Havens all scored 5 points each.
Monticello was led by Mackie Errthum, who scored 11 points, while Miah Brokopp and Harley Disch put 8 points on the board and Alexa Siegenthaler scored 2 points.
On February 20th, the Lady Knights played at Cambridge. New Glarus was up by 8 at the half but Cambridge persisted in the second to tie it up 57-57. The Lady Knights won it in overtime, 69-66.
Jaylynn Benson poured in 33 points for New Glarus, while Lily Himmelmann scored 12 points and Dylan Noll and Shealyn Klosterman-Havens each scored 8 points.
New Glarus, seeded #6 for the first round of Division 4 WIAA Regional play, hosted #11 seeded Brookwood, from Ontario, Wisconsin (Vernon County), on Tuesday, February 25th. The winner faces #3 Cuba City on Friday, February 28th.
Monticello has been seeded #11 for the Division 5 WIAA Regionals. The first round WIAA Regional game was played on Tuesday, February 25th, at 7:00 p.m., at Albany, who has been seeded #6 for the tournament. Should Monticello win at Albany, they will play the winner of the #14 Juda vs #3 Shullsburg game on February 28th, at 7:00 p.m., place to be determined.
