Home ›New Glarus Village Board Candidate - Ganshert
Michael Ganshert
Age: 70
Occupation: Retired
Years lived in village: 42
Incumbent? Yes
Have you been on the village board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: Yes, I served on the Village Board from 1988 to 1992. I presently serve on the Village Board since 2019. During the interim, I served as Chief Operator for New Glarus Wastewater Operations, so I could not be on the board.
Why are you running for village board? To serve the community with my experience as a Village Board Trustee and as past President of the New Glarus Lions Club and Past President of the New Glarus Economic Development organization. I also want to see your tax dollars put to the very best use possible.
What issues do you find most important to the village board? List your top three priorities: I believe top priority to be the COVID pandemic crisis, which has brought on the second biggest problem, the local economy. The present village board has helped to relieve some of the conditions brought on by the COVID pandemic in the way of setting some regulations restricting public contact, and financial relief to some businesses. And, finally, crime, which the New Glarus Police Department has been doing a wonderful job with the resources they have.
If you could reverse one village action, what would that be? None, that our present board has acted on.
Any additional comments? I would appreciate your support, and vote in the upcoming election.
