Ponies Play Their Hearts Out, But Come Up Short at State

The Monticello Ponies girls volleyball team left Monticello last week with a police and fire truck escort out of town on their way north to the State Volleyball Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay, and supporters lined the streets to show their support and excitement. Prior to getting on the bus, the team was sent off by the elementary school students. Every class made a banner and they lined the halls to cheer the team on as they passed by. The team's families decorated signs and hung them along Highway 69 and Highway PB for the players to see as they started their journey.
Bright and early on Friday morning, the Ponies played against Wabeno/Laona. All four sets were very close, but the Ponies were defeated in the first round. The set scores were 23-25; 26-24; 23-25; 21-25.
