The Monticello Ponies boys basketball team opened their season up by hosting Fennimore on November 29th. Up by 1 at the half, the Ponies could not get their offense going in the second half and lost the game, 29-37. The Golden Knights of Fennimore were 17-28 at the line, and the Ponies were 0-4.
Jackson Eyler led Monticello with 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Ryer Indergand scored 7 points, Kade Ace scored 6 points and had 7 rebounds, Evan Guenther put 5 on the board and Seth Culberson pulled down 4 rebounds.
On December 2nd, the Ponies played at Belmont. Monticello led at the half, 27-20, and held on to their lead for the 48-42 win. It was a close game, and the Ponies took the lead for good with less than 8 minutes left in the first half. Despite Belmont outscoring Monticello in the last half of the game, the Ponies pulled out their first win of the season.
With 18 points and 9 rebounds, Jackson Eyler led the Ponies in scoring, while Ryer Indergand put 10 points on the board, Seth Culberson scored 8 points and had 8 rebounds, and Brayden Ryan had 5 rebounds.
The Ponies played against Cambria-Friesland at the Just-A-Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells on December 4th, and hosted Albany on December 7th. They will play at Black Hawk on December 10th.
