Raiders Compete at Annual Lourdes on the Water Classic

The Sugar River Raiders varsity wrestlers participated in the 2022 Lourdes on the Water Classic on December 29th and 30th, held in Oshkosh at the Kolf Sports Center on the UW-Oshkosh campus.
Blake Endres (19-6), wrestling at 113 lbs, placed 5th and scored 32 team points. In round one, Endres had a bye and in round two he won by fall over Peshtigo’s Addisen Olson. Endres won by major decision over Crandon’s Mason Dewing in round three and in the quarter final lost by fall to Hortonville’s Wyatt Skebba. In round six, Endres won by major decision over Kewaskum’s James Racer and won by decision over Coleman’s Conner Markiewicz in round seven. In the semi final, Endres lost by decision to New London’s Wyatt Magolski. In the 5th place match, Endres won by medical forfeit over Muskego’s Cael Zelimski.
Ashlin Mihlbauer (12-8), wrestling at 120 lbs, scored 5 team points. In round one, Mihlbauer won by decision over West De Pere’s Ethan Agnew and in round two lost by fall to Mosinee’s George Ahles. In round three, Mihlbauer won by fall over Kewaunee’s Trevor Gauthier and in round four lost by decision to Denmark’s Bo Alberts.
Brennan Keyes (13-8), wrestling at 132 lbs, scored 7 team points. In round one, Keyes won by fall over Wisconsin Lutheran’s Caleb Meitner and in round two won by decision over Chase Powell of Markesan. In round three, Keyes lost by decision to Oshkosh West’s Ryland Schneider and in round four won by decision over Bonduel’s Matthew Walenta. In round five, Keyes lost by decision to Evin Passehl of Athens.
Cayson Helwig (4-6), wrestled at 138 lbs. In round one, Helwig lost by fall to Colton Kainz of West Bend West, received a bye in round two, and lost by decision to Watertown’s Owin Walsh.
Lukas Loshaw (1-6) wrestled at 145 lbs. In round one, Loshaw lost by fall to Wilmot Union’s Josh Brendal, received a bye in round two, and lost by fall to Pittsville’s Eason Dammann in round three.
Eli Leonard (19-4), wrestling at 152 lbs, placed 3rd and scored 37 team points. Leonard received a bye in round one, and won by fall over Menasha’s Cadyn Street in round two. Leonard won in round three by fall over Wilmot Union’s Joel Sullivan and won the quarterfinal over Shawano’s Carsen Herm by fall. In the semifinal, Leonard lost by decision to Germantown’s Talan Schutte and in the consolation semi won by decision over Micah Kuchta of Coleman. In the 3rd place match, Leonard won by decision over West Bend West’s Carter Lovy.
Ryker Swenson (14-5), wrestling at 160 lbs, scored 6 team points. Swenson received a bye in round one and in round two won by decision over Germantown’s Kenny Roberts. In round three, Swenson lost by major decision to Noah Deibert of Hartford and in round four lost by major decision to Hortonville’s Ayden Needham.
Alex Zielinski (13-7), wrestling at 170 lbs, scored 6 team points. Zielinski received a bye in round one and in round two lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Bryson Schmid. Zielinski received a bye in round three and in round four won by fall over Omro’s Xander Sowls. In round five, Zielinski lost by fall to Ashwaubenon’s Jacob Mc Vane.
Aidan Keyes (7-9) wrestled at 182 lbs. In round one, Keyes lost by fall to Crandon’s Rowyn Pagel and received a bye in round two. In round three, Keyes lost by fall to Kemper Robinson of Kewaunee.
Carson Loshaw (18-3), wrestling at 195 lbs, placed 7th and scored 27 team points. In round one, Loshaw received a bye and in round two won by fall over Carson Johnson of Oshkosh North. In round three Loshaw won by decision over Muskego’s Zach Current and in the quarterfinal lost to Shiocton’s Ilijah Sanchez by major decision. In round four, Loshaw won by fall to Mishicot’s Ben Griffey and in round five lost by major decision to Lomira’s Warren Sauer. In the 7th place match, Loshaw won by fall over Markesan’s Noah Hanefeld.
Garrett Pauli (8-5), wrestling at 220 lbs, scored 6 team points. Having received a bye in round one, Pauli won by decision over Pittsville’s Brad Neve in round two. In round three, Pauli lost by fall to David Gauderman of Wittenberg-Birnamwood and in round four lost to Watertown’s Tyler Habesetzer by decision.
Isaac Erb (8-11), wrestling at 285 lbs, scored 7 team points. In round one, Erb won by fall over Liam Johnson of Valders, and in round two lost by fall to Sturgeon Bay’s Ben Roman. In round three, Erb won by fall over Kenosha Indian Trail’s Gavin Martinez LaPorte and in round four lost by fall to Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Domini Weso.
The Raiders attended a triangular at Mineral Point on January 3rd. They will compete at an invitational at Sauk Prairie on January 7th, at a quad on January 10th at Dodgeville, and at a conference multi at Waterloo on January 12th.
