Raiders Crowned Conference Dual Champions

On January 10th, the Sugar River Raiders wrestled against Mount Horeb/Barneveld. The Raiders won the match, 51-19.
Raider Carson Loshaw (195 lbs) won by fall over Tristen Miller.
Wrestling at 220 lbs, Raider Garrett Pauli lost by decision to Garrett Waefler.
Raider Isaac Erb (285 lbs) lost by fall to Levi Maier.
Wrestling at 113 lbs, Blake Endres won by MD over Cole Cunningham.
Raider Kevin Vega (120 lbs) lost by fall to JJ Poarch.
Raider Ashlin Mihlbauer (126 lbs) won by fall over Landon Robenhagen.
Wrestling at 145 lbs, Cayson Helwig lost by MD to Brooks Pernot.
Raider Eli Leonard (152 lbs) won by TF over Ryan Errthum.
Wrestling at 160 lbs, Ryker Swenson won by fall over Payton Kirchstein.
Raider Alex Zielinski (170 lbs) won by fall over Cody Deneys.
Wrestling at 182 lbs, Aidan Keyes won by fall over Carson Escalona II.
On January 12th, the Raiders won the Capitol South Duals. While this was not the conference tournament, Coach Pete Swenson explained that it determined the Conference Dual Champions.
“Congratulations to the Raider wrestling team as they went 3-0 tonight in Waterloo and are the 2022-23 Capitol South Dual Champs!!” said Coach Swenson. “Tonight was a true example of a TEAM effort!”
In round 1, Sugar River scored 47 points to Marshall’s 33. In round 2, Sugar River won over Cambridge, 55-18. In round 3, Sugar River defeated Waterloo, 51-30.
On Saturday, January 28th, the Raiders will compete in an invitational at Wisconsin Dells, followed by the conference meet at Waterloo on February 4th and Regionals are February 11th in Belleville.
