Saengerfest 2015 Guest Performers

Saengerfest 2015 is almost here, and three years of planning will soon give way to camaraderie, music, fun and celebration. This international singing and jodeling festival sponsored by the North American Swiss Singing Alliance (NASSA) and hosted by Männerchor New Glarus, along with the assistance of the Jodlerklub New Glarus and many other volunteers from New Glarus and Green County, celebrates Swiss culture, music and traditions.
Along with the fifteen NASSA member choirs attending Saengerfest 2015, there are also several special guest performers coming from Switzerland and the surrounding area. Saengerfest 2015 opening ceremonies will include a special performance by the New Glarus Kinderchor. Under the direction of Holly and Kevin Lague, the Kinderchor is an example of the commitment to retain the Swiss heritage of our community by sharing culture and traditions with future generations.
Joining us from Switzerland will be the Schwyzerörgeli Grossformation Simmental (Swiss Accordion Band) from Saanenland. The group will perform several times at the fest tent and will be featured pre-concert music at the Grand Concert. Also performing will be Jodelklub Echo vom Lindenberg from Uezwil, Switzerland, and Jodelklub Glrärnisch from Glarus, Switzerland. Both Swiss jodelklubs will be performing in the fest tent, during the Competition Singing and as special guest performers during the Grand Concert. The Jodelklub Glärnsich performance will be a special treat for the Jodlerklub New Glarus, as the groups performed together last summer in Glarus, Switzerland.
On the last night there will be a special appearance by The Jimmys, led by local musician Jimmy Voegeli. The Jimmys have performed many times in Green County and are a regular in Madison and around Wisconsin, as well as performing nationally and internationally. The performance will begin at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public as a final celebration of Saengerfest 2015.
Saengerfest 2015 will be held June 18th through June 21st. There is no admission fee for any entertainment held in the fest tent, although formal meals in the fest tent are only available to those with a Saengerfest 2015 Fest Badge.
