On Saturday, March 21, 2015, the Sugar River track and field team competed in the first invitational of the season at UW-Platteville. The girls team finished third overall with 53 points while the boys team finished second overall with 58 points.
For the girls, junior Logan Fahey finished sixth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 8.01. Also competing in that event for Sugar River was junior Bridget Craker and junior Devyn Weiser.
Sophomore Krista Diaz placed fourth in the girls 200 meter dash with a time of 28.21 and Fahey finished 14th while Weiser finished 51st.
In the girls 400 meter dash, sophomores Rebecca Barr and Lucy Grady competed for the Raiders.
With a time of 2:39.17, senior Brianne Roska finished third in the girls 800 meter run while junior Sam Barr finished ninth with a time of 2:45.85.
Roska also finished fifth in the girls 1600 meter run with a time of 5:51.59. Also racing in that event was freshman Abbi Weisberg and junior Kerry McCoy.
Sophomore Noelle Marie won the girls 3200 meter run with a time of 12:07.47.
Sophomore Krista Diaz finished second in the girls 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.03 while sophomore Ciara Roberts also ran in this event.
The 4x200 meter relay team of senior Ashley Clark, junior Logan Fahey, junior Kati Way, and junior Devyn Weiser finished sixth with a time of 2:02.75.
The team of sophomore Krista Diaz, senior Jessica Hutter, sophomore Ciara Roberts, and sophomore Grace Schulting competed in the girls 4x400 meter relay and finished in 10th place.
The 4x800 meter relay team of junior Sam Barr, senior Brianne Roska, sophomore Noelle Marie, and junior Kerry McCoy finished second with a time of 11:02.40.
Senior Ashley Clark placed seventh in the girls pole vault with a height of 7-06.00.
Sophomore Grace Schulting finished seventh in the girls long jump with a distance of 14-06.00 and senior Jessica Hutter and junior Bridget Craker also competed in this event.
Schulting also placed seventh in the girls triple jump with a distance of 29-09.75 while Hutter finished 13th.
Juniors Daisy Rivera and Cassie McMillan, along with senior Madeline Knox, competed in the shot put.
For the boys team, senior Brandon Shemanski placed sixth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.10. Also competing in this event were senior Ryan Hayes and freshman Dalton Fahey.
Fahey finished eighth in the boys 200 meter dash with a time of 25.67 while junior Andrew Delorme also ran in this event.
Senior Tanner Hofer placed ninth in the boys 400 meter dash; also running the 400 meter dash were sophomore Aiden Pottratz and Delorme.
Junior Tyler Gilbertson finished fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.70 while sophomore Christian Arnett placed in the top 30.
Additionally, Gilbertson placed fourth in the 1600 meter run with freshman Cole Myers also running.
In the 3200 meter run, sophomore Kyle Fredrickson finished in seventh place while junior Justin Edge was 15th.
With a time of 8.31, senior Colton Boley placed third in the boys 55 meter hurdles while Cole Myers also competed.
The team of junior Nick Smith, senior Brandon Shemanski, junior Abe Morrick, and junior Lucas Diaz finished 11th in the boys 4x200 meter relay.
In the boys 4x400 meter relay, the Sugar River team of senior Colton Boley, senior Ryan Hayes, senior Tanner Hofer, and junior Abe Morrick placed 10th.
Also placing 10th was the boys 4x800 meter relay team of sophomore Christian Arnett, junior Tyler Gilbertson, sophomore Jordan Hosler, and junior Justin Edge.
Hofer finished fourth in the boys high jump with a height of 5-08.00.
In the boys pole vault, junior Nick Smith placed 16th.
Shemanski won the boys long jump with a distance of 20-04.00; Hayes finished seventh with a distance of 18-07.00. Junior Lucas Diaz also competed in the boys long jump.
Diaz placed eighth in the boys triple jump with a distance of 34-08.25, and sophomore Drew Pickett also competed.
In the boys shot put, senior Michael Fink placed second with a distance of 48-09.00, junior Landon Zimmerman finished third with a distance of 47-03.00, and senior Jackson McMahan placed fourth with a distance of 44-04.00.
On Tuesday, March 24, the Sugar River Raiders competed in the Pioneer High School Meet at UW-Platteville. The meet was non-scored.
“It was a great effort for those involved and gave us an opportunity to see the younger kids compete and to see what we have to look forward to for the season,” said Head Coach William Johnson.
