Home ›Stewart Tunnel - Make Your Voice Heard
As many of you may know, the Stewart Tunnel has been closed for several years due to the tunnel's crumbling ceiling becoming a safety issue for users. This landmark of the Badger State Trail has drawn in walkers, bikers, and hikers from all over the state and Midwest, and its closure has been a concern of not only trail users, but local economies and businesses that benefited from traffic along the trail corridor.
After persistent advocacy by various groups, state agencies are looking for your input on the best way to reopen this segment of the Badger State Trail.
If it's important to you to be able to walk or ride your bike through the Stewart Tunnel, we encourage you to take a look at the options being considered and submit feedback to the DNR by June 1, 2022, to let them know which option you would prefer.
