<strong>Tierman Presents Research at Annual UW System Symposium</strong>
<strong>Hunter Tierman</strong>, New Glarus, who is studying Social Studies, presented research at the 19th annual UW System Symposium for Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity that was hosted virtually by UW-Whitewater on April 28, 2021.
Tierman presented on Teaching Social Studies and Civics Through Primary Sources and Equitable Material as a co-presenter.
The symposium showcased undergraduate research, creative achievement and service learning conducted or performed by students across Wisconsin during the 2020-2021 academic year. Presentations reflect diverse fields of study, including the humanities, fine arts and biological, physical and social sciences. Undergraduate research is considered a high impact practice. Jalal Nawash, Director of Undergraduate Research at UW-Whitewater, said, “Research opens doors of opportunity, lighting up a path for your future.”
Along with the research presentations, the day’s events included panel discussions on graduate school, professional school and marketing undergraduate research experience to potential employers after graduation.

<strong>Stuessy Completes the Business Professional Development Program at UW-Whitewater</strong>
<strong>Katie Stuessy</strong>, Belleville, who is majoring in Business, completed the Professional Development Program offered by the College of Business and Economics at UW-Whitewater. Stuessy completed a series of co-curricular activities that build communication, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, digital technology, intercultural fluency and career management skills.
A total of 22 business majors completed the program, which has been designed to help ensure undergraduate business majors are equipped with career readiness competencies that employers value.
