Sugar River Continues Season Undefeated

The Sugar River soccer team hosted Columbus on April 30th, shutting them out 2-0. Julia McNamer, assisted by Aimee Sies, scored the first goal for the Raiders in the first half. Sies assisted Kalin O’Rourke in the second half with a goal.
On May 1st, the team traveled to Lodi, winning 2-0.
“Considering either Sugar River or Lodi have won the past 10 conference titles, the game had both teams eager to take the lead in the race to winning the 2018 title,” said Coach John Ziperski.
Scoring in the first half was Julia McNamer, assisted by Aimee Sies. Sies scored the second goal in the second half. Rachael Heittola tallied up 9 saves during the game.
On May 3rd, the team played at Cambridge/Deerfield. The steady rain didn’t slow the Raiders down and they won the game, 6-1. Kalin O’Rourke, assisted by Kirsten Krantz put the first point on the board, followed shortly by the second goal, also by O’Rourke, assisted by Krantz. O’Rourke, assisted by Aimee Sies, scored the third goal. In the second half, O’Rourke, assisted by Ellie Gentilli, scored goal number four. Exactly one minute later, Ellie Gentilli, assisted by Aimee Sies, scored. Cambridge/Deerfield then scored their lone goal and two minutes after that, O’Rourke scored the team’s final goal of the game.
The team hosted Luther Prep on May 8th. On Saturday, May 12, they will host the Swiss Kick quad in New Glarus, and will then host DeForest in Belleville on May 15th.
