Sugar River Euchre

Belleville residents may have heard the Harley Blue Express crew yelling, “I know we can, I Know we can, I know we can last Thursday night as the Express clambered by the River Rats with the boost of power from Opie Taylor and Steve Hoffmaster’s 115 chunks of coal. J&M River Rats Jim Gehin and Dan Palmer attempted to block the tracks with their 111 pounds of cheese, but it just wasn’t enough, the Express scampered past the Rats by 26.
With 111 bales of hay placed in Kleeman’s mow by Al Zimmerman and Jeff Goebler, the Hay Shakers were able to stack up a 3-point win over the Norsk Cowboys. The Cowboys led by 30 points after four frames but couldn’t keep their cinches tight enough to stay in the saddle.
Speaking of horses, the Riley Mounties, playing at home for the third straight week, finally got to play the bad guys and thereby getting their first win of the second half. Their strategy going into the night was to hold back as much cheese as possible from the Cheese Eaters. Their plan worked, allowing less than 100 morsels of cheese per each of the four S’Wisco Taphaus Cheese Eater couples. The Mounties secured a 44-point win. Tom Magnuson and Dan Meinholz lost just two games to finish the night with 118 points. I believe Janice had a hand in this win. She will be missed.
Jones’ Plumbing also went into the night without a win in the second half. The Tyrol Trolls were not going to be flushed down the drain without a fight. Brittney Onsager, after having a record breaking low score last week, had different thoughts this week. She and her partner Cindy Jenson punched 110 leaks into the plumbers’ work. But, Tiny Zander and Tony Hoffman did some quick patching to plumb in 119 lbs of pressure (this week’s high score). Tiny and Tony’s 119 points, coupled with the 73 points (this week’s low score) turned in by Trolls Scott Hook and Andy Amacher, resulted in a 79-point victory for the Pipe Benders.
Shufflers’ Erick Massey and Derek Skogen saw fit to skunk Tom Schulenberg and Jordy Schmitz on their way to securing 115 points for the Shufflers. Even with a skunk, Tom and Jordy finished with the second best Prankster score of the night, as none of them were able to reach 100 points. The Riley Shufflers win this one by 56 points.
