Sugar River Euchre

Another night of league play proved to be interesting. Cheese Eaters George Eichelkraut and Giff Hoesly reluctantly joined Don Field and Steve Dower in this season’s skunk club when they were skunked in the 4th frame by Cowboys Roger Olstad and Dave Willborn. George and Giff ended the night with a score of just 69, which was not this week’s low score. Whereas, Roger and Dave finished with a 113 points, this week’s high score. Randy Schmid and Steve Dower outscored their opponents by 39 to lead the Cowboys to an 82-point massacre.
All four Harley Blue Express couples carried in 100 plus buckets of coal for the boilers, with Opie Taylor and Steve Thoni carrying the largest load at 112 buckets. Steve Hoffmaster and Charlie Steinhauer were close behind with 110 buckets. With all that coal, the Express built-up enough pressure to burst 44 of the pipes fitted by Jones’ Plumbing.
On the other hand, none of the J&M Bar River Rats were able to break the 100-point barrier. The Norsk Pranksters played 15 more pranks on J&M Bar than the River Rats could handle.
After the Trolls first ever win last week, the Shufflers pushed them back under the bridge this week. It wasn’t easy though, the match was even after both the first and second frames, but then the Shufflers found their groove and finished the night off with a 25-point win.
Oh, remember the 69 points recorded by George and Giff above? Well I’m sure they are celebrating a little now that they know that wasn’t the low score of the week. That honor goes to Mounties Dan Meinholz and Bruce Milestone, who could only round up 67 points in their battle with Kleeman’s. The Hay Shakers shook hard enough to pile up a 23-point win.
