Sugar River Soccer Has Winning Week

Sugar River girls soccer hosted Poynette/Portage on April 23rd, winning 5-0.
Morgan Hustad, assisted by Sam Trainor, scored the first goal. Shortly after that, Ellie Gentilli, assisted by Karstyn Rossing, scored the second goal and near the end of the first half Julia McNamer, assisted by Karstyn Rossing, scored the third goal. Scoring in the second half was Kalin O’Rourke, on a penalty kick, and Aimee Sies.
On April 24th, Sugar River hosted Monroe and shut them out, 3-0.
“Congratulations to the Sugar River girls soccer team, posting their 4th shutout in a row,” said Coach John Ziperski.
Aimee Sies scored the first two goals for the team, and near the end of the second half, Francesca Schiro scored a goal.
Sugar River played at Lakeside Lutheran on April 26th, winning their first conference match of the season, 5-1.
Kalin O’Rourke, assisted by Sydney Gentilli, put the first goal on the board for Sugar River in the first half. Scoring in the second half were Julia McNamer, assisted by Aimee Sies, O’Rourke, assisted by Ellie Gentilli, Regyn Jelle, assisted by Brooke Watrud, and Kirsten Krantz.
On Saturday, Sugar River played at Mount Horeb, who is ranked #3 in D3. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Kirsten Krantz, a freshman, scored the first goal in the game, assisted by Francesca Schiro. Mount Horeb tied it up a few minutes later.
Shortly into the second half, Sydney Gentilli put the Raiders ahead by one, but Mount Horeb’s King tied it up with a penalty kick.
Sugar River hosted Columbus on April 30th, will play at Lodi on May 1st and Cambridge/Deerfield on May 3rd, and will host Watertown Luther Prep on May 8th.
