The Sugar River track team participated in the Tri-State Small School invitational at the UW-Platteville Williams Fieldhouse on Saturday, March 17th. The girls placed 13th and the boys placed 7th in the meet. Individual results are as follows.
<strong>Boys Results</strong>
In the boys 55-meter dash, Sawyer Fahey placed 6th with a time of 7.13.
In the boys 200-meter dash, Dalton Fahey placed 6th with a time of 25.24, Milo Hoesly placed 11th with a time of 25.76 and Jared Schulting placed 15th with a time of 26.05.
Dalton Fahey won the boys 400-meter dash with a time of 54.48. Placing 16th was Josh Grebel with a time of 58.06 and Matteo Latorre placed 34th with a time of 1:03.60.
In the boys 800-meter run, Caden O’Rourke placed 6th with a time of 2:16.37, while Tyler Stampfl placed 22nd with a time of 2:27.29 and Sean Campbell placed 30th with a time of 2:32.73.
In the boys 1600-meter run, freshman Conor McCoy placed 21st with a time of 5:33.80 while Josh Bowers placed 30th with a time of 5:54.35 and Alan Woller placed 38th with a time of 6:18.91.
The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Milo Hoesly, Will Blunt, JJ Wenger and Caden O’Rourke placed fifth with a time of 3:57.64.
Competing in the 4x800-meter relay was the team of Conor McCoy, Matteo Latorre, Sean Campbell and Caden O’Rourke who placed 9th with a time of 9:42.41.
In the boys high jump event, Jacob Shrader placed 6th with a final jump of 5-06.00.
Placing 3rd in the boys long jump event was Jared Schulting with a final of 18-06.00. JJ Wenger placed 6th with a final of 17-09.00 in the event, while Sawyer Fahey placed 17th with a final of 16-05.50.
In the boys shot put event, Eric Segura placed 18th with his throw of 35-02.00.
<strong>Girls Results</strong>
Kiara Donnell won the girls 55-meter dash with a time of 7.61.
In the girls 200-meter dash, Kiara Donnell placed 10th with a time of 30.57 while Kennedy Dreger placed 32nd with a time of 32.74.
Competing in the girls 400-meter dash were Hallie Bartow, who placed 15th with a time of 1:11.48, Nina Schiro, who placed 31st with a time of 1:17.78 and Dylan Noll, who placed 34th with a time of 1:18.97.
In the girls 800-meter run, Gabby Whisler placed 22nd with a time of 3:06.97, Molly Molencamp placed 24th with a time of 3:09.83 and Libbie Melvin placed 32nd with a time of 3:20.34.
In the girls 1600-meter run, Tayler Yapp placed 10th with a time of 6:24.37 while Emily Streiff placed 30th with a time of 7:36.64.
The girls 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Kiara Donnell, Erin Kittleson, Jade Halvensleben and Heidi Wegehaupt, placed 6th in the event with a time of 2:01.41.
The team of Hallie Bartow, Walela Three-Sticks, Nina Schiro and Lily Himmelmann placed 8th in the girls 4x400-meter relay, with a time of 4:51.55.
Competing in the girls 4x800-meter relay event was the team of Libbie Melvin, Molly Mollencamp, Gabby Whisler and Tayler Yapp, who placed 10th with a time of 12:20.30.
Placing 6th in the girls high jump were Katie Bowers, with a final of 4-08.00, and Lily Himmelmann with a final of 4-06.00.
In the girls long jump event, Walela Three-Sticks placed 10th with a final of 14-01.00, while Jade Halvensleben placed 14th with a final of 13-05.00 and Erin Kittleson placed 27th with a final of 12-04.00.
Placing 5th in the girls triple jump was Jade Halvensleben with a final of 31-05.00. Walela Three-Sticks placed 13th with a final of 28-11.00 and Kennedy Dreger placed 17th with a final of 26-10.00.
In the girls shot put event, Haiden Zimmerman placed 9th with her throw of 29-06.00.
“I thought things went pretty well, and as a staff we are pleased with how the kids performed. For some it was an eye opener, but for others it was just a matter of getting off on the right foot and getting a race or event in finally after two weeks of practice,” said Coach Willy Johnson. “We’re looking forward to an exciting year and to see what the kids can do when we compete outdoors for the first time on April 3rd. Tuesday we come back down with others who didn’t get a chance to make this meet and I’m sure they will be nervous, but that is part of the game.”
On March 20th, the team headed back to the UW-Platteville campus at the Williams Fieldhouse to participate in the Pioneer High School Meet.
<strong>Boys Results</strong>
In the 200-meter dash, Nickolas Schult placed 13th with a time of 27.73, Will Blunt placed 18th with a time of 28.10, Hayden Askey and Robbie Chenoweth placed 28th and 29th respectively, with times of 30.46 for Askey and 30.80 for Chenoweth.
In the 400-meter dash, Conor McCoy placed 9th with a time of 1:01.15 and Chase Messner placed 10th with a time of 1:01.47, while Adam Nelson placed 19th with a time of 1:03.29 and Tyler Stampfl placed 20th with a time of 1:03.68.
In the 800-meter run, Adam Nelson placed 13th with a time of 2:25.22, Conor McCoy placed 19th with a time of 2:27.914 (.003 ahead of the 20th place finisher) and Alan Woller placed 25th with a time of 2:38.37.
In the 1600-meter run, Sean Campbell placed 14th with a time of 5:32.24, Julian Fullbright placed 16th with a time of 5:39.94, Josh Bowers placed 24th with a time of 5:57.98 and Alan Woller placed 25th with a time of 6:01.64.
Placing 4th in the 4x200 meter relay was the team of Nickolas Schult, Hayden Askey, Josh Grebel and JJ Wenger, with a time of 1:48.11.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the team of Josh Grebel, Chase Messner, Matteo Latorre and JJ Wenger placed 4th with a time of 4:09.95.
The team consisting of Josh Bowers, Sean Campbell, Matteo Latorre and Tyler Stampfl placed 7th in the 4x800-meter relay event, with a time of 9:59.26.
Placing 5th in the long jump event was freshman JJ Wenger, with a final of 18-02.00. Josh Grebel placed 11th with a final of 17-00.00 and Robbie Chenoweth placed 28th with a final of 13-05.50.
In the shot put event, Eric Segura placed 15th with a throw of 33-08.00 and Matthew Zierl placed 20th with a throw of 31-00.00.
<strong>Girls Results</strong>
In the 200-meter dash, Kennedy Dreger placed 20th with a time of 32.53, while Dylan Noll placed 23rd with a time of 32.81 and Katie Bowers placed 29th with a time of 33.80.
Placing 5th in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:10.67, was Erin Kittleson. Nina Schiro placed 18th with a time of 1:16.57.
In the 800-meter run, Tayler Yapp placed 9th with a time of 2:58.84, Molly Molencamp placed 13th with a time of 3:03.93 and Brooke Dreyfus placed 26th with a time of 4:02.98.
In the 1600-meter run, Gabby Whisler placed 9th with a time of 6:41.64, Libbie Melvin placed 11th with a time of 7:12.15 and Emily Streiff placed 12th with a time of 7:12.70.
Tayler Yapp placed 3rd in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13.50.18.
The team of Hallie Bartow, Gianna Diaz, Kyla Jerome and Dylan Noll placed 9th in the 4x200-meter relay, with a time of 2:10.21.
Placing 4th in the 4x400-meter relay was the team consisting of Hallie Bartow, Dylan Noll, Molly Molencamp and Lily Himmelmann, with a time of 4:55.72.
In the 4x800-meter relay, the team of Libbie Melvin, Molly Molencamp, Emily Streiff and Gabby Whisler placed 8th with a time of 12:19.01.
In the girls high jump, Katie Bowers placed 8th with a final of 4-04.00, while Lily Himmelmann (4-04.00) tied for 9th place.
In a three-way tie for 8th place in the pole vault was Heidi Wegehaupt, with a final of 7-00.00.
Placing 4th in the long jump was Walela Three-Sticks with a final of 14-00.50. Kennedy Dreger placed 10th with a final of 13-03.50 and Erin Kittleson placed 20th with a final of 12-05.00.
Walela Three-Sticks also placed 4th in the triple jump, with a final of 30-07.25. Kennedy Dreger placed 16th with a final of 26-11.25.
In the shot put event, Haiden Zimmerman placed 7th with a final of 29-11.50, while Alexa Thayer placed 17th with a final of 25.06.50, Megan Mahlkuch placed 20th with a final of 24-02.00 and McKenzie Nyhus placed 31st with a final of 20-04.00.
The team hosts an invitational at the Belleville Sports Complex on Tuesday, April 3, which begins at 4:15 p.m., and on April 10th will travel to Cambridge for a conference meet.
