Effective March 31st, 2018, the Sugar River Transit taxi service will no longer be in service. This project started in October 2016, and after careful consideration, the ADRC came to the conclusion to stop the service. This service initially ran on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and offered a taxi like service to residents of Monticello, New Glarus and Belleville. For the final five months, we lowered the service days to only Tuesdays. Even though we have to stop this service, we do not look at this as a failed attempt. Prior to the start of the service running, the ADRC did extensive research of those communities and spoke with key players in the area to find out what the needs are of the “Sugar River” area. Though we had to stop this service, we know we will still be able to meet the needs of these residents in other ways. The ADRC has other shuttle services that come to Monroe on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, Madison on the 1st Thursday of the month and the option for volunteer driver escort services.
The ADRC was able to work with different agencies that helped Sugar River Transit while it was in service. A Thank You to the Monroe Cab/Brown Cab Company. We contracted with this agency and they provided us with one of their drivers and helped with dispatching and scheduling of rides. They made this process very easy for us and treated our consumers as their own. We would also like to thank the agencies, businesses and individuals that helped provide information at the beginning of the project that helped get it started and those who help spread the word throughout the time it was in service. Our last and biggest Thank You goes to those who rode with us. We thank you for trying our new service and hope that we can serve you in different ways in the future.
Please contact the ADRC at (608) 328-9499 if you have any questions about the available transportation services available.
