Sugar River Youth Wrestlers Compete at WWF Freestyle State Championships

Last weekend on May 4th, five Sugar River wrestlers competed at the WWF Freestyle State Championships at the Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells.
Freestyle wrestling is an International Olympic style with a quicker pace and higher scoring than traditional Folkstyle wrestling that takes place in the winter. All wrestlers that participated did a WONDERFUL job!! Just participating in this tournament is a great achievement. Over 1,200 wrestlers competed in the Saturday and Sunday tournament.
Competing for the Raiders were Mason Mau (14U), who won two matches and was in the top 8 just missing the podium. Blake Endres (12U) won two matches and was in the top 8 just missing the podium as well. Cayson Helwig (12U) gained valuable experience and just missed winning a match. Ryker Swenson (14U) won two matches and was top 8, just missing the podium. Eli Leonard (12) won three matches and placed 5th!!
Great job to everyone on representing yourself and Sugar River Wrestling!
