Swim Team Wins at Fort Atkinson

The Monroe-New Glarus swim team competed against Fort Atkinson for their last dual meet of the season on October 22nd. The Varsity team won, 114.5-55.5 and the JV team won 45-17.
“We had an excellent last dual meet of the season against Fort Atkinson. Our team showed up and swam very well after having some intense practices the last few days,” reported Coach Kendra Kalvin. “At the meet we saw great swims in the 200 IM (Mekenzie Hammer, Anna Newcomer, Taylor Rufer), 100 back (Mekenzie Hammer, Katie Elgin, Taylor Rufer) and 100 breast (Karley Michels, Peyton Yaun, Anna Newcomer). Now begins the end of season meets and we are so excited to see how our team does!”
Meet Results
The team of Morgan Erstad, Karley Michels, Mekenzie Hammer and Peyton Yaun won the 200Y Medley Relay with a time of 2:01.23. Placing 3rd was the team of Kaitlyn Elgin, Elsa Schaefer, Libby Fuller and Dee Delforge, with a time of 2:14.03.
Alyssa Roelli won the 200Y Free, with a time of 2:09.08, while Kendra Wenger placed 2nd with a time of 2:11.74 and Elsa Schaefer placed 5th with a time of 2:29.80.
Mekenzie Hammer won the 200Y IM event with a time of 2:15.61, while Anna Newcomer finished 2nd with a time of 2:26.92 and Taylor Rufer placed 3rd with a time of 2:40.36.
Morgan Erstad won the 50Y Free with a time of 26.07, while Karley Michels placed 4th with a time of 28.72 and Laurel Houston placed 5th with a time of 29.08.
Alyssa Roelli won the 100Y Fly with a time of 1:04.28, while Peyton Yaun placed 3rd with a time of 1:09.15 and Kayleigh Nesbitt placed 5th with a time of 1:28.14.
Morgan Erstad won the 100Y Free with a time of 56.79, while Kendra Wenger placed 3rd with a time of 1:00.85 and Laurel Houston placed 5th with a time of 1:05.40.
Kaitlyn Elgin won the 500Y Free with a time of 5:58.24, while Elsa Schaefer placed 3rd with a time of 6:28.46 and Libby Fuller placed 5th with a time of 6:53.91.
In the 200Y Free Relay, the team of Alyssa Roelli, Peyton Yaun, Anna Newcomer and Kendra Wenger placed 2nd with a time of 1:50.81, while the team of Dee Delforge, Libby Fuller, Kayleigh Nesbitt and Laurel Houston placed 3rd with a time of 2:06.62.
Mekenzie Hammer won the 100Y Back with a time of 1:02.61, while Kaitlyn Elgin finished 2nd with a time of 1:06.82 and Taylor Rufer placed 3rd with a time of 1:14.18.
Karley Michels won the 100Y Breaststroke with a time of 1:13.08, while Peyton Yaun placed 3rd with a time of 1:16.52 and Anna Newcomer finished 4th with a time of 1:18.06.
The team of Morgan Erstad, Mekenzie Hammer, Anna Newcomer and Alyssa Roelli won the 400Y Free Relay with a time of 4:01.32. Placing 2nd was the team of Laurel Houston, Kaitlyn Elgin, Karley Michels and Kendra Wenger with a time of 4:22.13.
The team swims at Stoughton for a conference meet on Saturday, November 2nd.
