Town of Montrose Fatality Crash

At 9:27 p.m., on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Belleville Fire and EMS, responded to a motorcycle vs. car fatality crash on STH 69 just north of Henry Road, in the Town of Montrose.
The preliminary investigation indicates Kevin L. Nelson, 41, Monroe, had been travelling southbound on STH 69 at a high rate of speed on his 2008 Kawasaki ZX600P motorcycle. He lost control of the motorcycle and crossed the centerline, striking a northbound 2014 Kia Sorento, driven by 36-year-old female from Mazomanie, head on.
Nelson was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office. The operator of the Kia was transported by EMS to the UW Hospital with minor injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt and her vehicle’s airbags did deploy.
The crash remains under investigation.
