Two Charged With Burglary

Mikel L. Ewing, 21, Bristol, IL, and Daesha T. Rayford, 19, Plano, IL, were both recently charged with one count of Burglary as a result of the investigation into the Burglary of the Five Star Cellular Store, located in the Village of New Glarus.
On June 15, 2017, at approximately 4:48 a.m., Green County Deputies responded to a report of an alarm sounding at the store. Upon their arrival to the scene, they determined that the building had been forcefully entered and property had been removed from it. The Deputies stood by the scene until officers from the New Glarus Police Department could respond for the Burglary investigation.
Upon the arrival of New Glarus Police Department officers and their initiation of the investigation, suspect and vehicle information was immediately developed. After reviewing this information, Lieutenant Sturdevant recognized the suspect vehicle and had knowledge of its current location. At that time, both Green County Deputies and Lieutenant Sturdevant responded to the suspect vehicle location, where they located Ewing and Rayford sitting in the suspect vehicle. Both were taken into custody without incident. Upon their arrest, both were interviewed by investigators and subsequently booked into the Green County Jail.
The New Glarus Police Department was assisted in the arrest by Deputies from the Green County Sheriff's Department and the Belleville Police Department.
