Two local people have been killed in motor vehicle accidents this week.
On Sunday, June 24, 2018, at approximately 7:33 a.m., Dane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, New Glarus Fire Department and New Glarus Area EMS responded to Peerless Road, just south of Ridge Road in the Town of Primrose, for a single vehicle fatality crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver and single occupant of the vehicle was traveling south on Peerless Road when the vehicle left the east side of the roadway, went down an embankment and struck a tree.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased as Brianna Nicole Johnson, 22 of New Glarus, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary results of an examination confirm that Johnson died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The death remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiners Office.
On Monday, June 25, 2018, just after 4:45 p.m., Green County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Monticello Police Department, Monticello Fire First Response, New Glarus Area EMS and Green County EMS, responded to a report of a one-vehicle rollover accident near N7000 State Highway 69, near Hefty Road.
The initial investigation indicates that a north bound vehicle, occupied by only the driver, crossed the center line and left the west side of the highway. It entered the south ditch striking a culvert and coming to rest on its side.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, an 86-year-old rural New Glarus man, died at the scene. The driver’s name is being withheld at this time pending notification of family.
