Wildcats Cross Country Team Places Well in First Meets of the Season

The boys and girls cross country team has proven that hard work pays off in the beginning of the season. We began with a meet in Monroe on Monday, August 30. The girls team was led by sophomore Alora Spiegel, who placed 19th overall with a time of 23:14, followed by junior Lainey Winkers with a time of 25:26.
The boy's team was led by Carter Scholey, who placed 3rd overall with a time of 17:24. He was followed by junior Angelo Dohm 20:05, senior Jordan Wilder 21:05, sophomore Aiden Campbell 21:34, senior Matthew Loshaw 22:13, sophomore Carson Loshaw 24:03, and senior Carson Heller 25:35. The boys placed 8th out of 10 complete teams.
On Saturday, the kids ran at Darlington. Once again, Alora Spiegel (29th) led the team with a time of 22:59, followed by Lainey Winkers 24:24 and junior Maddie Miller 31:08, all season bests for the girls Varsity team. The boys placed 7th out of 18 complete teams. Carter Scholey placed 3rd overall (17:33) followed by Angelo Dohm (20:00), Aiden Campbell (20:11), Matthew Loshaw (20:21), Jordan Wilder (20:47), freshman Niles Monroe (22:26), and Carson Heller (24:42). Aiden Campbell's time of 20:11 is a career best for him.
Also in Darlington, the Middle School girl's team was led by 7th grader Meara Allen, who finished the 1.3 mile course in a time of 10:42 and placed 45th. For the boy's race, Jackson Scholey received a ribbon for his 6th place finish with a time of 8:48.
We are looking forward to our next meet on Saturday, which is at Spring Green. The kids will run at their Municipal Golf Course. Good luck Wildcats!
