Finally, Schwoegler pitched out the rest of the game. He walked three while giving up four runs – two earned – on one hit.
Earlier that week on May 27 in a Capitol Conference South showdown, the Wildcats were defeated by New Glarus, 7-4.
At the plate, Nicholas Richter was one for three with two runs scored; McNamar was one for three with a run scored; John Gorski was one for three with one RBI; Jacob Hackman was one for two; and Shrader was one for two.
Gorski pitched the loss for the Knights, giving up three earned runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three.
“We had some good momentum going into the bottom of the sixth inning in a one run ball game.  Unfortunately, we committed a crucial error on an infield fly ball that would have been the third out of the inning, and they scored two runs off of it because they had the moxie to run things out hard with two outs.  That really took the air out of our sails,” stated Head Coach Jon Benash. “We gave them four runs on two plays that we should have made.  If we make those plays, then it’s a 4-3 ballgame in our favor.  That’s why every one of the 21 outs you have on both offense and defense are SO important: any one of them can change the outcome of a game.”
