On Friday, September 23rd, the Belleville Wildcats varsity football team traveled to Fennimore to face the Golden Eagles. With a 42-0 lead at the half, the Wildcats held the Golden Eagles scoreless in the second half to win the game, 49-0.
In the first quarter, Belleville got on the scoreboard right away with a pass from Aidan Keyes to Kaden DeSmet for a 22-yard gain and a TD. Jake Fahey's extra point was good. Their second TD came two minutes later on a pass from Keyes to DeMarcus Conner. Fahey's extra point was successful. With less than 2 minutes left in the quarter, Logan Derke ran it in from 46 yards out to score, with Fahey kicking the extra point. In the second quarter, the Wildcats again scored three times. Keyes tossed one to Conner for 6, with Fahey's extra point a success. Landry Yarbough ran it in from 60 yards out for the second touchdown of the quarter, with Fahey kicking the extra point. With 4 seconds left in the quarter, Keyes hit DeSmet for 6 and Fahey's extra point was good to make it Belleville 42, Fennimore 0.
It was a quiet third quarter, with no scoring from either team. About halfway through the fourth quarter, QB Sam Arndt got it to Owen Nemec for a score, with Jake Fahey kicking the extra point.
Aidan Keyes passed for 192 yards on 10 completions for 4 touchdowns and was intercepted once. Sam Arndt was 3 for 4 with 69 total passing yards.
Landry Yarbough led the Wildcats with 114 rushing yards, while Logan Derke had 46 and Brennen Keyes had 5.
Leading the Wildcats in receiving yards was Kaden DeSmet with 87, while DeMarcus Conner had 78, Owen Nemec had 69, Andrew Ace had 25 and Landry Yarbough had 2.
Logan Derke had 4 tackles on defense, while Brady Durni had 3, Kaden DeSmet, Trei Udelhoven and Brennen Keyes had 2 each and Casey Hagen, Jake Fahey, Sam Arndt, Owen Nemec, Landry Yarbough, Andrew Ace, Devin Gratz, Cooper Nemec and Nate Meier each had 1 tackle.
The Wildcats play at Mineral Point at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 30th.
