Wisconsin G.I. Bill Benefits Available to Veterans

The Green County Veterans Service Office would like to remind area Veterans about the Wisconsin G.I. Bill, which is an education benefit completely separate from the Federal G.I. Bill.
The Wisconsin G.I. Bill tuition remission program provides a waiver of tuition and fees at University of Wisconsin System and Wisconsin Technical College System schools. Eligible Veterans may receive up to 128 credits for technical, undergraduate, professional, or graduate study. The Veteran had to have been a resident of the State of Wisconsin at the time they joined the military, or been a Wisconsin resident for the last five years, if they joined from another state. There is no expiration date for benefits.
The Wisconsin G.I. Bill is also available to children under age 26 and spouses of disabled Veterans rated 30% or higher by the VA. The student and the Veteran must both be residents of Wisconsin, and for those Veterans that joined from another state, the five-year residency rule applies. There are additional criteria for this benefit that have to be submitted to the State.
For any further questions regarding possible eligibility for this benefit, or for questions regarding any other Veterans benefits, please feel free to contact your local County Veterans Service Office. In Green County, this office can be reached at (608) 328-9415.
