On Thursday, December 9th, the Monticello Ponies girls varsity basketball team played at Juda. Monticello was victorious, winning by a score of 41-22.
“Our pressure defense caused them to turn the ball over. We were able to convert on the turnovers and get some steals as well,” said Coach Lori Brokopp. “They had a full court press on almost the entire game. It caused us a few issues in the first half but did a better job of breaking it later on. I thought Ellie Gustafson really did a great job handling the pressure and is doing so many great things for our team. She’s very versatile and is ready to help out her team in any way she can.”
With 15 points, Ellie Gustafson led the Lady Ponies in scoring, while Jaden Zuber had 8 points, Dalana Trumpy scored 7 points, Katelyn Eyler put 7 points on the board, and Sarah Brokopp and Karlee Wilkins scored 2 points each.
On Friday, December 17th, Monticello will play at Black Hawk. They will host Williams Bay on December 21st and then host Albany on January 6.
