Green County Alzheimer's Walk Kick-Off Event July 12

On Wednesday, July 12, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin (ADAW) will host an Alzheimer’s Walk kick-off event from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at First National Bank, 1625 10th Street, in Monroe. Drop in to learn what’s new for this year’s walk, how your walk efforts make a difference, and receive an update on local programs and services. ADAW is pleased to announce Jodi Kegebein and the Kegebein Family as Family Chair, and Dr. Joshua Morrison, Neurologist with Monroe Clinic Memory Center, as Medical Chair for this year’s walk. Jodi is caregiver for her mom and connected with ADAW after visiting with Dr. Morrison and learning her mother had middle-stage Alzheimer’s Disease and Vascular Dementia. 
Make a difference in the lives of local families facing a dementia diagnosis like the Kegebein’s by joining the 16th annual Green County Alzheimer’s Walk, on Saturday, September 9, at Behring Senior Center in Monroe. All funds raised stay in Wisconsin to fund ADAW programs and services like the annual Understanding and Coping with the Challenges of Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia workshop in Monroe, taking place this year on Wednesday, November 15.
Last year’s walk, attended by more than 150 people, raised over $35,000. The award for corporate/organizational team raising the most money was awarded to Pleasant View Skilled Nursing and Rehab and Alleda’s Crew, walking in memory of Alleda Gerber, was the family team raising the most money. Monroe Manor had the most walkers in attendance at 42 and Michael Wolff and Cindy Miller were honored as top individual fundraisers.
More than 110,000 Wisconsin residents currently have some form of dementia disease, a number that is expected to increase. Last year alone, ADAW offered 347 education programs, 165 support group meetings, answered 2,234 helpline calls and held 581 family meetings, totaling 23,400 points of service.
