Home ›Knights Seeded #3 for Sectionals Following Wins Over Belleville and Waterloo
The New Glarus boys basketball team played at Belleville on February 2nd. A slim 3-point lead by New Glarus held the Wildcats off at the half, and the Knights increased that lead ever so slightly in the second half to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 65, Belleville 57.
Dain Walter led New Glarus with 20 points, while Nathan Streiff and Mason Martinson each scored 10 points.
For Belleville, Andrew Ace led the Wildcats with 15 points, while Trevor Syse scored 14 points and Carson Syse and DeMarcus Conner each scored 9 points.
On February 5th, the Knights traveled to Waterloo to take on the Pirates. Leading by 8 at the half, New Glarus kicked their offense into high gear in the second half and won the game. The final score was New Glarus 73, Waterloo 51.
Mason Martinson scored 26 points to lead the Knights, while Dain Walter put 16 points on the board and Beckett Malaise and Nathan Streiff each scored 6 points.
The Knights hosted Oregon on February 8th. They will host Wisconsin Heights on February 11th. New Glarus received a bye for the first round of WIAA Sectionals and will play the winner of the #3 Lancaster vs #6 Prairie du Chien game at home on February 19th, at 7:00 p.m. The Knights are seeded #3 for the Sectionals.
