Don't Get Stuck at Home in the Winter, Use Our Services

November 30, 2017

We are coming up on the holiday times, which means roads will be busier and busier with people shopping for family gatherings. On top of that, the weather can be very unpredictable, especially in Wisconsin as we all know! In Wisconsin, winter is one of the most dangerous times on the road. In fact, the Department of Transportation reports that about 24% of all car accidents are weather related.

So why risk it? The time it takes to warm up your vehicle, clear off the snow, make sure your path is clear and plan your route can be tiring, and you haven’t even left your house. There is another option. Consider taking the shuttle bus or our driver escort program offered by the Aging & Disability Resource Center.

The shuttle bus could be a great option for you. If you want to visit Albany, Belleville, Brodhead, Juda, New Glarus or Monroe, we do regular routes to and from all these locations. Riders can go shopping, get groceries, have lunch, pick up medications, or even visit a friend. It only costs you $4.50 round-trip to any location inside Green County. If you are looking for a day trip to Madison or Janesville, we can get you there too! Each month we take a trip to these locations. Once again, you tell the driver where you need to go and they make sure you get there, safe and sound. These trips cost a little more, round-trip it is $10.00 to go to Madison and $8.00 to go to Janesville.

Our driver escort program is another great way to get around during the winter. Our driver escorts will pick up at your house and get you right to your doctor appointments, to the bank, or to do some quick shopping. The cost for these trips vary on location and the cost is reasonable, especially when you don’t have to worry about finding parking spots at the doctor’s office or at the grocery stores.

Just think how nice it would be to avoid having to sit in traffic, find a parking spot, make your way across dangerous parking lots, and wait for your car to warm up. The driver drops you up and picks you at the front door of your destinations.

Here’s how it works:

You call the ADRC and reserve your spot on the shuttle at (608) 328-9499.

The shuttle or driver escort picks you up at your front door – it is warm and ready to go when it arrives.

You pay the driver based on your destination.

Tell the driver where you would like to go and you’re on your way!

The drivers are there to help you too. They will get you where you need to go, pick you up, and help you with packages. They also make sure you are safely returned to your home.
