Call for Race Participants and Photo Entries for Bastille Day Lakefest July 14

The Bastille Day Lakefest organizers invite race participants to the One-Mile Youth Run, 5K Run/Walk, Individual Kayak Race and Team Canoe Race and entry submissions for the Nature Photo Contest.

First, second and third place winners will be awarded for the One-Mile Youth Run and 5K Run. The Youth Run is open to anyone 12 years old and younger. The 5K Run/Walk will have the following categories: 13-19 years old, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+. The Youth Run will be held on the Lake Belle View Loop at 6:30 p.m., while the 5K Run/Walk will start/end on Main Street on 7:30 p.m.

The Individual Kayak Race and Team Canoe Race will take place on Lake Belle View. There will be two divisions: Under 17 and 18 and older. The Individual Kayak Race will take place at 4:00 p.m., while the team Canoe Race will take place at 5:00 p.m.

The early registration fee is $15.00 per person for youth participants, and $25.00 per person for adults. The early registration deadline is June 30. Onsite registration is $20.00 for youth and $30.00 for adult race participants, respectively.

Entry submissions for the photo contest is also open. The deadline to submit entries is July 7th. Photos will be judged in two categories: Nature and Community and People. There will be an adult (18 and older) and youth (17 or under) division for each category. A winner will be chosen for each category in each age division, as well as a “People’s Choice” winner voted by Bastille Day Lakefest patrons that day. Winners receive a cash prize of $50.00 for each category in each age division. The People’s Choice winner will receive $100.00. About Bastille Day Lakefest

Bastille Day Lakefest is a unique festival that will celebrate Lake Belle View, the Community Park amenities, Main Street and the town’s French Heritage on Saturday, July 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The festival will offer natures shows, promote health and wellness and encourage community connections. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Belleville Community Health Improvement Project and the Belleville Community Assistance Program.

Free use of canoes and kayaks will be available for enjoyment of the community and visitors during the festival. In addition to the races and photo contest, the festival will offer various programs throughout the day including a Critters Table, Raptor Show, a French Fur Trade Re-enactment Camp, Lake Wildlife Hands-On Fun, Kids & Bugs, Belleville History & French Heritage Display, Carp Fishing Contest, Tai Chi, Zumba in the Park, River Boat Rides on the Sugar River, Live Acoustic Music, Lake Restoration & Development Presentation and a French-themed Foot Parade traversing historic French sites in Belleville.
