Sugar River Raiders Compete in Black Hawk Invitational

The Sugar River Wrestlers opened up their tournament season at the very challenging Black Hawk Invitational on Saturday, December 1st. Competing wrestlers included: Top Row (L-R): Joe Quaglia, Cade Femrite, Robert Chenoweth, Danny Enloe. Bottom Row (L-R): Raiders warming-up, Rudy Wicker, Jack Diederich, Justin Knoebl.

The Sugar River Raiders wrestling team hosted a Dual against Pecatonica/Argyle on November 29th. The final score of the dual was Pecatonica/Argyle 60, Sugar River 15.

In the 120 lb weight class, SR's Joe Quaglia lost by decision to Noah Krahenbuhl.

In the 126 lb weight class, SR's Matthew Loshaw lost by fall to Christian Orloff.

In the 132 lb weight class, SR's Avery Lettman lost by fall to Dakota Doescher.

In the 138 lb weight class, SR's Cade Femrite lost by fall to Chevy Hughes.

Sugar River's Rudy Wicker, wrestling at 145 lbs, won over PA's Lane Busser.

Wrestling at 152 lbs, Robert Chenoweth won by fall over PA's Griffin Gordon.

In the 160 lb weight class, SR's Jack Diederich lost by decision to Eastan Schraepfer.

In the 170 lb weight class, Justin Knoebl lost to PA's Dalton Turner by fall.

In the 195 lb weight class, SR's Lance Varney lost to Tate Hirsch by fall.

In the 220 lb weight class, Chase Messner lost by fall to PA's Lucas Gilbertson.

Daniel Enloe won by forfeit in the 285 lb weight class.

On December 1st, the Raiders competed at the Black Hawk Invitational, placing 11th.

Wrestling at 120 lbs, Joe Quaglia (33-13) placed third and scored 17 team points. In round one, Quaglia received a bye and in round two he won by fall over Dodgeville's Drew Palmer. In round three Quaglia lost by major decision to Epworth Western Dubuque's Joseph Simon. In the third place match, Quaglia won by decision over Brodhead/Juda's Russell Waeffler.

Cade Femrite (4-4), wrestling at 138 lbs, placed sixth and scored 9 team points. In round one, Femrite received a bye and in round two he lost by major decision to Pecatonica/Argyle's Chevy Hughes. Femrite again received a bye for round three and in round four he won by fall over Boscobel's Cooper Fitzgerald. In the fifth place match, Femrite lost by fall to Belmont/Platteville's Christopher Gillen.

Wrestling at 145 lbs was Rudy Wicker (1-2) who scored 4 team points. In round one, Wicker won by fall over Pecatonica/Argyle's Gordon Griffin and lost in round two to Pecatonica/Argyle's Lane Busser. In round three, Wicker lost by fall to Darlington/Black Hawk's Brady Horne.

Robert Chenoweth (29-14), wrestling at 152 lbs, placed fourth and scored 15 team points. In round one Chenoweth won by fall over Brodhead/Juda's Brian McCullough. In round two, Chenoweth won by fall over Darlington/Black Hawk's Cody Blosch. Chenoweth lost round three by fall to Epworth Western Dubuque's Elijah Demmer. Chenoweth lost the third place match in overtime to Pecatonica/Argyle's Eastan Schraepfer.

Wrestling at 152 lbs was Jack Diederich (25-18) who placed seventh. In round won Diederich won by fall over Dodgeville's Elijah Reeson and lost in round two to Pecatonica/Argyle's Eastan Schraepfer by fall. In round three Diederich won by fall over Brodhead/Juda's Brian McCullough and lost round four to Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern wrestler Shaedyn Lane. In the seventh place match, Diederich won by fall over Belmont/Platteville's Trevor Heim.

Justin Knoebl (14-11) wrestled in the 160 lb weight class, losing round one to Epworth Western Dubuque's Levi Burds. Knoebl lost round two by fall to Boscobel's Tanner Bassett.

Daniel Enloe (26-14) wrestled at 285 lbs, placed sixth and scored 9 team points. In round one Enloe had a bye and in round two he lost by decision to Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern's Jake Neis. In round three Enloe won by fall over Belmont/Platteville's Chris Spoor. Enloe won round four by fall over Dodgeville's Louden Fuerstenberg. In the fifth place match, Enloe lost by fall to Darlington/Black Hawk's Leif Bredeson.

The team hosts Madison West in Belleville for a dual on December 6th and will host their home invitational in New Glarus on December 8th. They then head to Whitewater for a match on December 11th.
