On Friday, March 29, the Raider girls varsity soccer team opened up their 2019 season with a hard fought battle in Madison against the Crusaders from Edgewood, coming up short in a 0-2 defeat. Sugar River held strong for a 0-0 score at half. Then at the 55th minute in the 2nd half, Henley scored assisted by Trudgeon, and again same duo scored at the 72nd minute. Rachel Heittola, SR senior goalie, had seven saves. Only one shot on goal for the Raider girls. TOUGH first game right off the start!

On Saturday, March 30, the Raider girls soccer team took to Edgewood High School turf stadium for the 2nd time in two days, competing against West Salem. The girls came out aggressive right away and scored in the first 5 minutes, a solid goal by sophomore Jaylynn Benson. At 19:45, sophomore Kirsten Krantz booted a nice one in for a 2-0 score at halftime. Coming back from halftime, Jaylynn scored her 2nd goal for the day, being assisted by Kallie Ace and Paige Leonard. And at the 85th minute, Ellie Gentilli scored the 4th goal for the Raiders, ending the game 4-0. Rachel Heittola had three saves at goalie and freshman Morgan Thompson came in and had one save. Nice job girls!
