"Excited to get the baseball season started, we enter this spring with a strong group of senior leaders ready to finish their high school baseball careers oh a high note, fighting for their spot at the top of the conference. The rest of our team is filled out with a mix of exciting young talent ready to make their mark and help us reach our goals. Our first game of the season was played in Argyle and was an opportunity for the coaching staff to get to know how our players would work together," said Griffin Rear, Head Coach for the Belleville Wildcats.

In the non-conference game at Argyle on April 1st, the Wildcats lost to the Orioles, 3-6.

"The following day we traveled to Nekoosa for our second contest, which was unfortunately called short of a full game due to inclement weather," said Rear.

The game at Nekoosa was tied at 8 when the game was suspended due to the weather.

"On Friday, we played our first conference game against perennial powerhouse Wisconsin Heights. After leading for much of the game and playing very clean baseball, our guys came up short in a 1-run affair," said Rear.

The Wildcats lost, 4-5. Trevor Syse was 2x4 with 2 RBI. Austin Fahey pitched 6 innings, while Markus Markiewicz pitched for one inning.

"The final matchup of the week was a non-conference double-header against Parkview. In game one, our players played exceptionally well, executing efficiently in all aspects of the game and walked away with our first win of the young season," said Rear. "Unfortunately, the grind of a long first week caught up to us in game two, as we were unable to execute in the ways we know we are capable and suffered a loss. We've learned a lot about our team and our players during this first week of baseball games and we look forward to the successful season ahead."

The Wildcats won game one against Parkview, 9-1. Jaydon Winkers was 2x3 with 1 RBI, Dylan Gratz was 2x4 with 1 RBI and Trevor Syse was 3x3. Winkers pitched for 5 innings and Gratz pitched for 2 innings.

The game two score was Parkview 16, Belleville 6. Austin Fahey was 3x4 with 2 RBI, Jaydon Winkers was 1x1 with 1 RBI and Dylan Gratz was 1x2 with 1 RBI. Four different pitchers took the mound for the Wildcats. Markus Markiewicz and Kody Fahey pitched 1 inning each, Trent Baumgartner pitched for 2 innings and Carson Syse pitched 1.2 innings.

The Wildcats played against New Glarus on April 9th and will play at Cambridge on April 11th and host Deerfield on April 12th.
