Wildcats Shut Out Pirates

On Tuesday, April 16th, the Belleville Wildcats baseball team hosted the Waterloo Pirates. The Wildcats won the game, 4-0.

"Behind a fantastic pitching performance from Jaydon Winkers, our team played a very clean baseball game to complete the shutout," said Coach Griffin Rear. "Even though our team was out-hit in the game by Waterloo, aggressive base running and error-free defense made the difference in the game."

Dylan Gratz, Jackson Richter and Matthew Hackman all went 1x3 at bat, with Gratz and Hackman getting 1 RBI each. Austin Fahey, Luke Kelly, Jaydon Winkers and Trevor Syse scored the four runs.

Jaydon Winkers pitched all 7 innings, striking out 5 and surrendering 0 runs on 6 hits.

On April 18th, the Wildcats played at Mineral Point. Belleville lost the game, 0-10.

The game, "proved to be a tough test for our players as an early game deficit was too much to come back from," said Coach Rear.

Mineral Point scored early and often, up 9-0 by the 3rd inning. Their final run was scored at the bottom of the 5th.

Luke Kelly went 1x1 at bat and Jaydon Winkers and Trevor Syse were 1x2 at bat.

Austin Fahey pitched 3 innings, striking out 1, and Dylan Gratz pitched the rest of the game, striking out 2.

Belleville hosted Pecatonica on April 22nd, played at Monticello on April 23rd and play at Marshal on April 25th.
