May 2, 2019
Robert Gibson, the Green County Alcohol and Drug Supervisor, and Drug Court Judge James R. Beer have announced that the Green County Drug Court has received a grant from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration. The award for the “Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment Capacity in Adult Treatment Drug Courts and Adult Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts” (TI-19-002) was for $400,000 for year for five years, for a total of $2,000,000.
The grant will be used to expand the number of participants, and to include participants from Lafayette County. The grant will also increase the services that may be offered to participants. The Green County Drug Court was established in July 2017, with an initial grant of $122,900 per year for five years from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
This SAMHSA grant received by the Green County Drug Court was one of 25 grants given nationwide for drug treatment courts. Both Gibson and Judge Beer express their gratitude to the Drug Court team, the Green County Human Services Department, the Green County Human Services Board and the Green County Criminal Coordinating Counsel.
