Belleville has two candidates for Dairy Queen for 2019-2020. Check out next week's Post Messenger Recorder for the announcement of the 2019-2020 Dairy Queen and the farewell letter from Brenna Meier, who was the 2018-2019 Green County Dairy Queen and 2018-2019 Belleville Dairy Queen.

Berlyn Gobel

Hello, my name is Berlyn Gobel and I am excited to be a 2019-2020 Belleville Dairy Queen candidate. I am 15 years old and will be a sophomore next September at Belleville High School. My parents are Mark and Jess Gobel and we live on a dairy farm right outside of Belleville.

My mom is a kindergarten teacher in Monticello and my dad is a dairy farmer here in Belleville. I have been given the opportunity to work with children in Monticello with my mom as a teacher assistant. I've also loved growing up on a farm and being able to work with cows and other animals. In addition, I am an active member in FFA.

If given the chance to be your Belleville Dairy Queen, I would work hard to be an inspiration, spread knowledge about agriculture, help my community, and promote the Green County Ag Chest. My passion for agriculture as grown with me and becoming your 2019-2020 Belleville Dairy Queen would be a lifelong dream of mine.

Thank you for considering me as your 2019-2020 Belleville Dairy Queen.

Carol Rankin

Thank you for considering me for the position of the 2019-2020 Belleville Dairy Queen. My name is Carol Rankin, and I am the daughter of Kenneth Rankin and Mary Schenk. I have one sibling, Denise, who is 19. My family and I live ten minutes south of the heart of Belleville.

My family has been involved with the dairy and agricultural industry all their lives. I have had the honor of being taught how to love all of the farming and agricultural industries. Sometimes, with the loss of crops and livestock, it may be tough to see the silver lining, but I have learned greatly from it. Throughout my show years, I have shown dairy cattle, turkeys and sheep at the Dane County and Stoughton Fairs. I have spent many years teaching the youth about the agriculture industry, I have enjoyed it very much.

I will be a junior next September at Belleville High School. Through my academic learning I have been on Honor Roll each semester. Along with keeping a high academic record, staying active in many different school programs is another one of my passions. I am involved with the FFA chapter, which, in 2018-2019, I was the Reporter and in 2019-2020 I will be the Treasurer for the Belleville FFA Chapter. With being in the FFA, I have gone to the National FFA Convention since my freshman year. DECA, concert band, jazz band and concert choir are some of my other activities that I have been involved in with my high school career. I have had the honor of being a member of the Belleville Busy Beavers 4-H Club for the last eight years. In 2015, I started having a more active role, with being a 4-H Officer. The first position I held was as Reporter. In the last three years, I have held the club's Treasurer role.

I have helped on the family farm since I was four, with small jobs. As I got older, I was given more responsibility to where I feel confident of my knowledge of the farming and agriculture industries. Agriculture surrounds me in my everyday life, and is where everything begins.

Throughout all my activities, I have stayed true to the farming and agricultural industries since I was young. It has played a huge role in my years growing up, and I would be honored to represent Belleville as the 2019-2020 Belleville Dairy Queen. Being Dairy Queen would be another amazing opportunity to promote, inform and learn about these wonderful industries.
